Rejoice! The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is bringing us a four-day extravaganza from the 2nd to the 5th of June. London truly comes alive on a sunny bank holiday weekend, and this one is set to be extra special, with majestic events taking place across the capital.

2022 marks 70 years since Queen Liz ascended the throne in 1952, making her the longest-reigning monarch in British history. We think that’s certainly worthy of celebration, and there’ll be events taking place across the city. If you need a little inspiration, we’ve rounded up our top tips for things to do in London for the Jubilee weekend.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay to make the most of the celebrations, we’ll give you a right royal welcome at one of our chic, central London properties.

The Warwick hotel is just a short walk from the Queen’s residence, Buckingham Palace, while the Carlyle and the Knaresborough are found in the heart of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Now, without further ado, here are Nestor’s top picks of the best things to do in London for the Jubilee bank holiday…

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in London:

For anyone looking to celebrate the Jubilee, a visit to Buckingham Palace is the best place to start; spot the principal beacon being lit and watch the changing of the guards, surrounded by other lovers of all things royal. The atmosphere is going to be electric, but be prepared, it’ll be busy! The 2nd June will be extra special as the Trooping the Colour Parade is taking place, and there may even be a chance to spot the Queen watching from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

On the 2nd June, the traditional Trooping the Colour parade (which marks the Queen’s official birthday) will be taking place from Buckingham Palace, moving down the Mall to Horse Guards Parade. It will consist of 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians, joined by members of the royal family in carriages and on horseback.

The Parade will close with the traditional RAF fly-past, watched by The Queen and members of the Royal Family from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Superbloom at the Tower of London is set to be a breathtakingly immersive experience, celebrating the Jubilee. The floral spectacular will see visitors enter the medieval moat and be transported through a field of blooms around the famous fortress.

An explosion of colour, a specially commissioned soundscape and the chance to spot butterflies and bees that are drawn in by the flowers are just some of what you can expect. Opening on 1st June and running until September, book your tickets here.

For the anarchists and rebels amongst us, no need to fear, there are plenty of fun events celebrating counter-culture at the Southbank Centre. On Sunday there’s a free screening of Danny Boyle’s documentary, Pistols, charting the rise of punk pioneers the Sex Pistols, whose iconic song, God Save the Queen, is known all over the world and became the ultimate anarchist anthem.

That’s a wrap! However you decide to spend the weekend, there are plenty of exciting events taking place around the city – you certainly won’t be short of things to do in London for the Queen’s Jubilee weekend.
