Chocolate Heaven in West London

Box of chocolates

Easter and chocolate go hand in hand, which makes us happy bunnies! 🥚🐇

First stop for downright decadence is Melt, in the heart of Notting Hill, where chocolatier Louise Nason prepares some of the world’s finest chocolate recipes in an open plan kitchen. From the get-go, Melt has been proudly using stunning eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging. They also host a ton of in-store events, such as brownie-making courses, chocolate and cocktails nights, and a children’s lollipop making course.

Meanwhile, a small gem of a chocolate shop atop Westbourne Grove, Alexeeva & Jones, offers up a fine taste of luxury. Husband and wife duo Gareth and Natalia have created the ultimate bespoke chocolate experience, which lets you choose exactly what goes into your easter egg, from letters to diamonds.

In Picadilly is the world-famous Prestat, a chocolate and truffle speciality store with celebrity admirers including Roald Dahl (of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory fame), Tina Turner and Cher. The founder of Prestat, Antoine Dufour, created the world’s first chocolate truffle, while the store even delivers sumptuous cocoa treats to Buckingham palace.

Easter Sunday Lunch in West London

Easter Sunday roast

There are few things more quintessentially British than a Sunday roast, and never more so than in London during Easter, where classic gastro pubs and trendy brunch spots put on a special feast for Easter Sunday.

Parlour is a sumptuous spot in Kensal Green, famed for its elevated take on the Sunday staple. The menu includes several starters for the adventurous eater, including blue cheese custard, chestnut hummus, and a reassuring choice of “goat’s cheese from somewhere”.

The Hawksmoor in Knightsbridge provides a more traditional Sunday roast all year round. It gives its traditional fare a special springtime flavour by roasting it over an open fire before finishing to order in the oven. Astonishing quality is reasonably priced at just 25 pounds.

Finally, another slightly left-field take, if that’s your thing: The Harwood Arms in Fulham is one sure-fire way to get serious on a Sunday afternoon. Some of their unique Sunday options include a venison scotch egg, a hearty chestnut soup (with wild boar), and a rare main of cornish Monkfish with smoked butter sauce. Not for the faint of heart, nor for the peckish!

Egg-celent Activities

What better way to celebrate Easter with the family than with uniquely London celebrations of the egg and its bearer, the hen.

Hen Corner is the enchanting home of Sara and Andy Ward. Nestled in West London, the home has a remarkable kitchen garden full of seasonal crops, fruit and nut plants, a micro-bakery churning out bread, buns and cakes, a large flock of hens, and three gentle colonies of humming honey bees.

Its yearly event, this year on Saturday 18th April, is one of the most wholesome ways to enjoy Easter in West London. Guests can take drinks and freshly prepared treats on arrival, before going for a meet and greet with the 22-strong flock of hens. Then the group will embark on an Easter egg hunt for real and chocolate eggs hidden around the grounds while finishing off with activities such as crafts and baking. And at the end of the trip, afternoon tea with even more freshly baked treats. A clucking good time all around!

Hop Along To Kensington Palace

Kids enjoying Easter

The Lindt GOLD BUNNY hunt is a storied journey of discovery through the grounds of Kensington Palace. Children aged 4 to 12 and parents will learn all about the trail map to find the GOLD BUNNY statues dotted secretively around the palace. At each statue, they’ll learn a fascinating story about the characters that visited, lived and worked at Kensington Palace.

What’s more, once you’ve completed the trail, a 10g Lindt GOLD BUNNY reward awaits! The price of admission also includes a normal day ticket to Kensington Palace, so you can explore the grounds, the history, and all Kensington Palace has to offer in the traditional way.

A Funny Sort of Easter

The Thames

There are few things more enjoyable than pottering along the river Thames with a drink in hand and the sun on your back even if you’re more of a sipper than a sailor. Floating food and drink spots are one of London’s main attractions in the spring. Head down to the Thames to find some of London’s greatest bars, including one of the most famous comedy clubs anywhere in the world

The Boatshow Comedy Club in Embankment is the surest way to guarantee a rip-roaring good evening on the river. Moored opposite the London eye, with stunning deck views of London at night, The Boat Show brings famous faces together with up-and-comers from the international comedy circuit and offers a beautiful scenic bar as well as a nightclub for after the show.
